We are delighted to announce that Martin ‘John’ Donnelley has been awarded Healthcare Security Officer of the year at the Annual Healthcare Security Awards 2021. The award was announced at the National Association for Healthcare Security annual conference held in Birmingham on the 19th November.

John is a member of our Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) Team and works primarily at Wythenshawe Hospital. The judges stated that “John embodies the ideal Healthcare Security professional, in that he is able to combine a security presence, with a customer care approach focused on achieving a positive patient experience for all those who attend his hospital”.

Due to operational requirements John was unable to attend the conference and will be presented with his award on a separate occasion.

When told of the award John stated:

“I am very pleased to receive the award from NAHS – I treat every patient I come in contact with as though they were a member of my family, dignity and respect is everything to me”.

Dave Potts GSTS CEO stated:

“I am incredibly proud of John and this national recognition is fully deserved. John worked tirelessly at Wythenshawe Hospital throughout the COVID pandemic, offering support to clinical staff, patients and visitors alike. He was also involved in some very challenging situations where the empathy he has for patients really shone through. We will also be recognising John’s achievement through our own awards and recognition programme”.
