Our Corporate Social Responsibility

At GSTS we are totally committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which our employees and clients live and work.

All of our senior management team have a military or police background and we believe that people who have been in service make excellent employees in security or facilities management. They are invariably smart, punctual, used to communicating and working within a team, and fully understand reporting mechanisms.

One in 11 of the UK adult population has served sometime in the Forces. GSTS is based in the Liverpool City Region, which is home to around 85,000 veterans – in the North West which has been the most successful recruiting ground for the Forces with over 37% hailing from the region. As such, we employ as many ex-servicemen as we can and we find that they are excellent employees. We are proud signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant armedforcescovenant.gov.uk, which is a UK government-backed initiative to ensure that those who have sacrificed so much for their country should be treated fairly and not be disadvantaged.

At GSTS, we also have a heart for those men and women and their families who have served their country and have difficulty adjusting to civilian life or who for whatever reason have found themselves in unemployment or situations which have prevented them from contributing fully to society.

It is a sad fact that the number of former servicemen in prison or on probation is now more than double the total British Forces that was deployed in Afghanistan.

An estimated 20,000 veterans are now in the criminal justice system, with 8,500 in prison which is over 10% of the prison population. This proportion has risen by more than 30% in the last five years.

We are proud to do what we can for any veteran who wants to make a new beginning in their life and we support several veteran’s groups in particular Liverpool Veterans HQ veteranshq.org.uk who give amazing community support to veterans and their families.

Whenever possible we seek to give veterans the opportunity of gainful employment and we always offer a number of free training places on every one of our courses.

As the first UK Security Company to employ an Employee Assistance Manager (EAM) we understand that individuals often have background issues that need to be overcome and managed. Every tier of our supervision and management is centred around looking after our staff and ensuring that we always deploy the best operatives for our clients. Those operatives are able to call upon the support of our EAM on a 24/7/365 basis.

We have also made a partnership with Nexus. Their aim to become a focal point for young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. All projects delivered by Nexus use sport as the catalyst to transition young people into youth engagement opportunities, to help change lives for the better and break down any barriers that are harming community cohesion.
