GSTS Healthcare Officer Wins National Award for Second Year Running

GSTS team celebrate National Awards win

We are delighted to announce that Mark Williams has been awarded Healthcare Security Officer of the year at the Annual Healthcare Security Awards 2022. The award was announced at the National Association for Healthcare Security annual conference held in Birmingham on the 4th November 2022.

This is the second year in a row that a GSTS officer has won the award.

Mark is a member of our Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) Team and works primarily at Wythenshawe Hospital. The judges stated that “Mark embodies the ideal Healthcare Security professional, in that he is able to combine a security presence, with a customer care approach focused on achieving a positive patient experience for all those who attend his hospital”.

Due to operational requirements Mark was unable to attend the conference and will be presented with his award on a separate occasion.

When told of the award Mark stated:

“I am very pleased to receive the award from NAHS – I think it is very much a team effort. Everyone I work with on the team has the same approach to make sure that patients are dealt with, and kept safe in the same dignified way”

Dave Potts GSTS CEO stated:

“I am incredibly proud of John and this national recognition is fully deserved. Mark has worked tirelessly at Wythenshawe Hospital offering support to clinical staff, patients and visitors alike. He was relatively new to the Healthcare security role, but right from the start he showed an amazing ability to put individuals who have complex needs at ease and to make sure they were understood, and their requirements met, all the time having regard for their safety and dignity. For GSTS to have won the same award two years running is an amazing achievement for all officers on the MFT Team”
